About Master Jeff Hughes
Master Hughes began his martial arts training in 1974 at the age of 7. Unlike most youngsters, he trained more for necessity than for fun. He grew up in a rough neighborhood in Vacaville, Ca and his mom convinced his first sensei to allow him to take his class so that her son could protect himself. The rest is history, he has been loving and training in the martial arts ever since.
Master Hughes has trained in many styles over his 40 plus years of study, including but not limited to; Kajukenbo, Kuk Sool Won, Hapkido, many styles of Kung Fu & Tai Chi, Hawaiian Kenpo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He opened his first school in Austin, TX in 1995.
After training himself, as well as thousands of others, Master Hughes has created an AMAZING martial arts system that will help you make the life changes that you are looking for. Iron Mantis Martial Arts.

About our instructor Coach Asher Morris
Coach Asher Morris, a Tyler Texas native, was first introduced to the martial arts as a child by his father who introduced him first to Judo, and later to French Fencing. In October of 1996 at the age of 17 he began training in 7 Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu under Master Brandon Jones of Tyler, TX. through whom he met Master Jeff Hughes of Austin,TX . In August of 1997 Coach Morris left Tyler and moved to Austin to begin training with Master Hughes.
In 2017 after a long hiatus Coach Morris rededicated himself to his martial arts studies and training under Master Hughes.
A former chef and retail business owner Coach Morris now an Iron Mantis Blackbelt, trains and teaches Master Hughes’ Iron Mantis Martial Arts System at I.M.M.C. in Tyler, Texas and is an affiliate of Iron Mantis Martial Arts.
